He graduated from the Szombathely Higher Teacher Training Institute in 1968, majoring in Folk Art\/Library.  <\/p>\n<p>He has been a regular literary translator since the early 1980s. Since 1993 his translations have been published under the name G\u00e1bor Romh\u00e1nyi T\u00f6r\u00f6k. <\/p>\n<p>He was awarded the French State, Chevalier de l&#8217;Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2002. In 2014 he was awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I am looking for the Philosopher&#8217;s Stone. I think it is the book that makes most other books superfluous, that displaces them. Beckett, Nietzsche and Foucault are such authors. I would like to know what I am doing in a world into which I have arrived for a relatively short time, not of my own free will, and which I am about to leave. Forever. I am looking for the book that will forever put the question to rest: what is life really worth? With which I will overcome my anxiety, my fear of death, my fear of eternal annihilation.
