Vera G\u00e1thy, while working towards her degree in English at ELTE in 1967, also studied history and Hindi for four years.<\/p>\n
In 1972 he obtained a doctorate in modern universal history. In 1981, he obtained a PhD in political sociology. <\/p>\n
After graduating from university, he worked at the Institute of Cultural Relations until 1982, and then at its successor, the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\n
From 1982 to the end of 1990, he coordinated modernisation research programmes at the Institute of Sociological Research, and managed and edited the Institute’s book and publication activities (twenty volumes were edited and supervised).<\/p>\n
From 1966 to 1990, in addition to his work in all his posts, and later as a researcher, he focused on and published on the social history and sociology of modern India (from British colonialism to the present day).<\/p>\n
