Cuando lleg\u00f3 a Budapest procedente de Cluj-Napoca en 1939, tras finalizar sus estudios de secundaria, a\u00fan no se hab\u00eda decidido por una carrera como compositor. Se matricul\u00f3 en el departamento h\u00fangaro-franc\u00e9s de la Universidad P\u00e9ter P\u00e1zm\u00e1ny (donde se doctor\u00f3 en 1943) y estudi\u00f3 composici\u00f3n en la Academia de M\u00fasica. Zolt\u00e1n Kod\u00e1ly, que se jubil\u00f3 en 1940, fue profesor de Sz\u0151ll\u0151sy s\u00f3lo durante un a\u00f1o, y Albert Sikl\u00f3s lo fue a partir del segundo. Sin embargo, Sikl\u00f3s muri\u00f3 al a\u00f1o siguiente, y Sz\u0151ll\u0151sy complet\u00f3 su \u00faltimo a\u00f1o en la Academia de M\u00fasica como alumno de J\u00e1nos Viski. Inmediatamente despu\u00e9s de la guerra, obtuvo una beca para Roma, donde asisti\u00f3 a la clase magistral de Petrassi en la Academia Santa Cecilia en el curso 1947\/48. <\/p>\n

Tres lugares importantes fueron los que m\u00e1s influyeron en su pensamiento y creencias art\u00edsticas: Cluj Napoca, el E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Collegium y Roma. Su c\u00edrculo de amigos inclu\u00eda a Rudolf Maros, Gy\u00f6rgy Ligeti, G\u00e1bor Darvas y K\u00e1lm\u00e1n Hal\u00e1sz, que tambi\u00e9n buscaban nuevos caminos en la composici\u00f3n. <\/p>\n

Como music\u00f3logo, public\u00f3 textos y bibliograf\u00edas para promover el culto a los dos grandes maestros de la m\u00fasica h\u00fangara, Kod\u00e1ly y Bart\u00f3k. La mayor contribuci\u00f3n de Sz\u0151ll\u0151sy fue en el campo de la filolog\u00eda de Bart\u00f3k. Cre\u00f3 un cat\u00e1logo de obras de Bart\u00f3k f\u00e1cil de usar, traducido a muchos idiomas, que a\u00fan se utiliza en todo el mundo en programas de conciertos y CD, con la letra \u00abSz\u00bb. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
