Born in Budapest in 1947. He graduated from high school in Arad on 26 September 1966, and in 1971 he obtained a degree in history from the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj. In 1999, he received a doctorate in history from the University of Bucharest. After the regime change, he took an active political role in the RMDSZ, serving for several years as a member of the Cluj-Napoca and Cluj County Assemblies, and as a member of the Bucharest Legislative Assembly from 2000-2004. He has published several volumes on historical subjects. In his writings he worked on the factual investigation of the Hungarian past in Transylvania. In his book of studies, he spoke out in defence of Albert Wass, who was persecuted with unchanged vehemence even after the regime change, and also dealt with the life of the 1956 Transylvanian martyr Aladár Szoboszlay.
