Zenóbia Zorkóczy is an actor, performer, publicist, writer born in Odorheiu Secuiesc in 1971.
He graduated from the Faculty of Theatre Arts at the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca.
His work is extremely diverse. Besides his work as a performer, he writes articles and publishes books. For the past three years, he has been a fellow of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, where he has been researching theatre history on Transylvanian freelance performers. He has written a methodological book for teachers entitled The Fifikas of Children’s Performance.
He has produced nearly twenty independent literary and musical performances and children’s productions. For a quarter of a century he has given 100-200 performances a year. As an individual performer, he brings culture, theatre, classical and contemporary literature to the poorest Hungarian settlements in the Carpathian Basin, to the Roma schools, where no living actor or writer has ever been. He has toured Western Europe with his performances for adults, travelled overseas, and his love poetry show has made many secondary school students fall in love with Hungarian poetry.
He has been working for decades for the Hungarians of Transylvania, for the cultivation and preservation of the mother tongue, for the wide dissemination of Hungarian literature, and he considers his vocation to be a community service. He draws strength for this mission from the fact that during his travels he constantly experiences that the countryside and the region are culturally abandoned.
His publicist articles can be read in various written and electronic publications such as Országút, Magyar Nemzet, Előretolt Helyőrség, or Irodalmi Jelen.
His serial novels under the title Kaszáló színésznő, avagy ufó a Székelyföldön were published by Irodalmi Jelen Könyvek.
Her work has been the subject of a book – Kristóf Juhász: With Voice and Presence – and a documentary – Emese Ambrus: Little Street of Europe.
