Book review

The volume brings together essays that draw on performative, intersubjective, postmodern, feminist, tropological and rhetorical theories, reflecting the major theoretical turns in literary studies over the last half century. They not only present the different paradigms and methods of interpretation of the theories, but also apply them to the interpretation of texts. The studies on the interpretation of prose texts examine texts by Hungarian and American authors, including Sándor Márai, Péter Nádas, Péter Esterházy, Mark Twain, Ambrose Bierce, Henry James, Hilda Doolittle, Carson McCullers and David Hwang, while the poetic essays analyse the works of American poets such as Emily Dickinson, Charles Bernstein, Augusto de Campos and Susan Howe.
