Károly Orbán

Based on my published books and other writings, I consider myself a writer, although I am an actor by training.

I graduated from the “István Szentgyörgyi” Institute of Drama in Târgu Mures in 1964, and according to the HUNGARIAN LEXICON OF THEATRE ART – Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, 1994 – I was an “excellent character actor”.

I practiced this beautiful profession on the stages of Oradea, Sfântu Gheorghe and Budapest, but I was already writing more and more before I moved to Budapest in 1984. In 1990 I was accepted as a member of the MÚOSZ.

In 1992 I left the theatre world to become a journalist. I actually had to wait until I retired to write fiction. Since 2018 I am a member of the Hungarian PEN Club.
