Krisztinka Ilyés: "It can open new paths for those who are just getting to know the oeuvre"
Interview with Imre József Balázs, editor of Géza Szőcs: Collected Poems
“This volume is too early, this career had to end too suddenly and unexpectedly” – says Imre József Balázs, editor of the volume Géza Szőcs: Collected Poems , which has just been published. The book commemorates the poet Géza Szőcs, who died three years ago and would have turned 70 this year. Imre József Balázs has been an enthusiastic reader and interpreter of Szőcs’ work since the mid-1990s, and since then he has been researching the periods of Szőcs’ life with students of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Szeged, in small group projects. This year, at the request of the poet’s family, he took on the editing of Collected Poems. On this occasion, we talked about the Szőcs oeuvre, the difficulties and the beauty of the process.
